John Francis Colrain was born in **** in Govanhill, Glasgow. Growing up with two sisters and two brothers, John had a passion for music and football from an early age.

His father, the late John Colrain, played for Celtic from **** until ****.

John is a black hackney taxi driver in the city of Glasgow and performs part-time as a singer and jazz musician. He was encouraged by a friend * years ago to attend the Fiona Duncan vocal jazz workshops during the Glasgow Jazz festival and it was at this time that he gained the confidence and encouragement he needed to start performing in public.

John has been working with the course pianist Jim Clelland since he took part in the jazz workshops back in ****.

Jim has been a huge source of inspiration for John, passing on his experience and knowledge of the business. The musical relationship between John and Jim has been a fruitful one, it has enabled John Colrain to develop musically and work on many great jazz standards and swing classics.

Over the last two years John Colrain has been dabbling in songwriting and wrote the Glasgow song 'Glesga's Different Class by the Way' as an ode to his great city. Having been so well received John went into La Chunky studios in Glasgow with producer Greg de Blieck to record the song backed by Jim Clelland and Muldoon's Ragtime Band.

John performs every Friday evening *.**-**-** at GUY'S Bar/Restaurant at ** Candleriggs, Glasgow.
