Hi! I'm Stephen and have been a DJ for some twenty years, fulltime for the last ten. During this time I have covered just about every imaginable event for all age groups and types.
I pride myself on a professional, but flexible approach to being a DJ. The art is to never forget whose event it is and what you require.
As I'm not an agent what you see is what you get!

Small PA systems
As a DJ I have no musical axe to grind and as such request based. With most parties a wide range of music is required to reflect the spread in ages, but this is flexible on what you the client wants. Young, young at heart or unrepentant rat pack lovers, musically you can have anything you like.

Below are examples of rigs and cost:
Example 1. Standard rig consisting of a pair of EV SX300, they give crystal clear sound, which is ideal for karaoke and smaller venues (the karaoke equipment pictured was taken in a small wine bar). For a heaver sound a pair of DAS DS 115 can be used, this would be enough sound for a small to medium sized room. The light is provided by two bespoken lighting effects.
Cost from £60 per hour.
Example 2. Medium rig as example 1, but as a four speaker set up with an extra lighting effect. This set up is ideal for medium to larger venues, giving quality sound to the dance floor.

Example 3. Heavy rig consisting of a six speaker set up, EV, DAS and a pair of Cerwin-Vegar base bins. The lighting consists of at least four effects (this form of lighting with DJ booth will give a night club feel). This set up is obviously for larger venues. At a recent event where this sound system was used the client wanted 'presence' on stage. The music was not played very loud, but everyone could see it!
Cost £350 minimum.
All these systems are powered a QSL PLX 2402 amp with the exception of example 3 which uses two amps.
There are pricing variations due to distance, congestion charges and parking. Also Monday to Thursday evenings may be cheaper with the exception of December. Karaoke discos cost a little more.
The above examples are there to give you the idea of what you are paying for. Weddings and corporate tend to cost more; because a lot more effort has to go into them, they are very different from doing three hour karaoke at a local pub. So prices do reflect on event type, there are minimums dependent on hours and equipment.
