My boyfriend, Peter, and I took a trip to Boston to visit some friends of ours that moved there about 10 months ago. I had never been to Boston before so a big part of our trip would be to go sightseeing. One of the things we planned to do was climb the Bunker Hill Monument. The monument is 221 feet tall and has 294 steps to the top. We started our ascent and we climbed and climbed. The stairs seemed to go on without a destination. There wasn’t anyway to tell you were getting close to the top, until you got close to the top. I could see the end in sight and was happy to get there. When we reached the top, there was a big book sitting on a small table. It looked like a history book that was meant to be looked at. I opened the book and to my surprise it was a box made to look like a book. It was incredible. I really thought it was a book. Anyway, inside the box was a piece of paper. It read, “Sonya, I feel like I’m climbing to heaven each time I look into your eyes. I want that feeling for the rest of my life. Will you marry me? Peter”. The only thing that came out of my mouth was yes followed by the greatest kiss. Our friends set this up with the tour person the day before and I’m glad they were there to see the smile on my face at that moment.
