This wedding story happened when I worked with a catering company about 7 years ago. I still laugh when I think of it. We were doing a wedding in a home. The ceremony and reception where being held outside. When it came time for the wedding cake to be served, a fellow employee and myself went inside to get the cake to bring outside. I asked him how can I help? He said "don't worry" I got it! He then lifted the 3 tier wedding cake up and over his shoulders, well.....what he didn't realize is that the ceiling fan was also up above his head. Needless to say, the bride and groom ornament went flying across the room, and icing splattered all over the kitchen. The top of the cake was saved but it was lopsided and a little distorted. We couldn't believe what just happened and the only thing we could do was to laugh. We laughed so hard (I guess partly nervous laugh because we were in shock and in disbelief) I still can't believe till this day that we were the only ones that saw this happen! There were a few older people sitting in the living room and not only did they not hear us laughing, they didn't see a thing. We hurried up and tried to put the cake back together. We made it look the best that we could "icing it back up". Thank God..the bride and groom ornament didn't break. We then carried it outside to place it on the table (trying to hold our laughter in). At this point someone said "Oh, look at the wonderful cake that Aunt Betty made". I almost died, we knew that we had to get out of there before Aunt Betty came over. As we walked away to the van the cake started to tilt a little. Till this day we still don't know what happened to the cake after that, as it was our time to leave. I just like to think that the bride and groom got to cut the cake before it fell over! Never in my years of catering, did anything like this happen to me. This story will live forever and it always brings back the laughter. Hey it was either laugh or cry, life's to short to cry.
