1940`s Hairstyle For Prom, Please Help!

1940`s Hairstyle For Prom, Please Help!

I am a senior in high school and am really wanting a cool prom, since this is my last. I have a black dress, my date has a zoot suit (cain, hat , and shoes too.) But I feel that I need the hair. I cannot find a site that has any of the elegant 1940`s hairstyles. Please help.

Here is a book you can purchase on Amazon, most of the swing dancers have bought this book http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1930064012/103-6789079-2148661?v=glance&n=283155

I just wanted to thank Erika for listing websites. My daughter is going to junior prom this year and she and her date are going 40`s style and I had no idea what to do (way, way before my time - like 30 + years!!). Thank you so much, these sites are so helpful. As to Mary, Butt (how appropriate) and any other rude people, what are you even doing on a message board like this. The last poster was right, Mary`s probably divorced by now cause an evil witch like that couldn`t possibly stay married (and if she is still married I pity her husband!).

Re: 1940`s Hairstyle For Prom, Please Help!

Well about the 40`s look it all depends on what you want!!!and up to or down...also how long ur hair is. The 40`s look has a lot to do with swirls here and there they also have a bigger selection on up do`s. If you want go to google.com and then use the image part and type in 1940`s hairstyles. They give dont give u a big selection but you can kind of get an idea and what you want. If you have any questions feel free to email me and I can also give you more ideas.

P.S
Barnes and Noble also has a lot of books right now on the old school look.A lot of pin-up girl books too.

Re: 1940`s Hairstyle For Prom, Please Help!

For anyone who needs a good 1940s hairstyle I highly recommend a book titled "1940s Hairstyles". It`s by Daniela Turudich. I have this book and it gives several different styles and how to do most of them as well as simple tips and tricks. I bought it at Barnes and Noble and it only cost me about $15, so it won`t break the bank. Hope this helps!!

Colleen,
You said that you bought the "1940s Hairstyles" book for only $15, how long ago was that? I have looked on ebay and amazon and it is between $200-300 dollars! I don`t get it. Any suggestions?

Hey Kitty...you should check out Christina Aguilara`s hair for the Grammy`s last month. Very 1930-1940 with a modern twist.

Re: 1940`s Hairstyle For Prom, Please Help!

I find it quite amusing that this messege board has lived for 2 years, lol. I basically know how to make a pompodour, but not a very good one, so I was trying to find a website that showed and I came across this messege board. Anyways, if anyone else comes on here and is continuously reading down all the posts waiting paitently for someone to put a decent web page on to look at...here it is.

For a guy go to:

For a girl go to: (pic...sorry, couldn`t find anything else)

I hope it helps a little bit. There really aren`t any websites out there though that have updated pompadour hairstyles.

Re: 1940`s Hairstyle For Prom, Please Help!

I have looked at the many websites there are (thanks by the way) on 1940s hairstyles, and I have difficulty understanding how the hair rolls are supposed to be done. Where do they go? What is a rectangular part? I just can`t seem to figure this part of the hairstyle out. I`ve looked at pictures and tried to determine this, too, but so far I`ve found nothing. Anyone know anything that can help?

Re: 1940`s Hairstyle For Prom, Please Help!

Hi,
I would like to say thank you to Erika for taking time out to find numerous sites for us to look at and i would also like to thank Sarah for her indepth instructions. Thanks, you have made my search a million times easier! i am holding a three day charity event for the royal british legion`s poppy appeal for veterans of ww1 and ww2. We are going to be dressing up in clothes from that period and i need my hair to look the part as well. This is obviously a much better cause than Marys wedding! i seriously hope the groom came to his senses and left you standing at the alter! i can`t call you ignorant because ignorance is bliss, you Mary are just down right f***ing rude!!!!!!!! glad all went well for Kitty. Thanks again. Bye, Emma xxx
