Any type of partner dancing is great fun and is a brilliant social asset. Dancing regularly reduces stress, helps keep you fit, improves your coordination & helps you to interact with other people. If you want to combine a gentle exercise with a social life whilst listening to good music, then partner dancing is for you. If you have had enough of feeling silly getting onto a dance floor, then you need lessons not alcohol (or both lol). Salsa has become a particularly popular partner dance and is growing across the UK at enormous speed. Salsa music is often used in a number of films, TV programs & commercials. Salsa music varies across the world. Consequently many dance styles have developed to suit the music. For example Mambo was originally a Cuban dance, but in New York, it is now a totally different dance which has become very popular across Europe in the last 5 - 10 years. The most common styles in London are now L.A. (also known as New York On1) and the original Cuban, but there are still a few who prefer the New York, Miami or Colombian styles. Check out the Salsa Styles to see the differences including video clips. At BestSalsa classes we offer all styles so that wherever our students go to dance, they will feel comfortable. No partner is necessary to attend our salsa classes as most BestSalsa classes. Our classes are designed for all levels from absolute beginners to advanced. Our beginner classes are split into 2 levels so that new beginners are not overwhelmed, and those who have been for a few lessons do not have to repeat many moves that they have already learnt. Group Salsa Lessons Group classes are held every Monday & every Wednesday at Agenda, Minster Court, 3 Mincing Lane, London EC3R 7AA except Bank Holidays. Lessons are followed by free dance practice except on published party nights. Individual lessons The advantages of individual lessons (or private lessons as they are sometimes known) are that they are tailor made to suit you. You will learn what you want to learn and in the style, level and a time of your choice rather than take the risk of wasting time. This is particularly useful if your time is valuable. Some people are too shy to go to group classes until they feel reasonably competant. You may also want to learn a routine for a special occasion (such as a wedding). Individual lessons would be good for that too, but don't leave it until the last minute. You also have the option of learning alternative dances e.g. Pachanga/Boogaloo, Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha Cha, Jive, International Rumba, Samba, Hustle, West Coast Swing, Ballroom or Old-Time dancing. If you feel that you are not learning sufficiently fast, or wish to learn something that you are not getting out of group lessons, then you may consider learning on a one to one basis, a couple to one teacher or a small group with Barry who is a very competent & experienced teacher and would be pleased to hear from anyone considering learning privately. Barry has no studio of his own, but would be pleased to travel to you if you have a suitable space. Alternatively a studio may be hired for an extra fee. Individual lessons cost £40 for the first hour and then £20 per consecutive hour depending on the location (within 30mins travelling time from Whitechapel). Weddings, Parties & Special Events Whatever the occasion, a dance lesson or a dance show can provide your guests with a great time and get parties going. We will encourage them to mix socially. If you want to be the performing stars of your own show, then BestSalsa's expert dance tuition offers individual lessons too. We would recommend that you combine these with group lessons & practice. We can provide you with a tailor made party which may include any combination of the following: Barry has a huge collection of MP3 music which he uses in conjunction with speakers or can plug into your own system if you prefer. The price we quote would therefore depend upon which of the above options you select and also the location. Corporate Events Happy workers make good companies great. Healthy staff members tend to take less sick leave than unhealthy staff. Companies who do not encourage their staff to socialise risk conflicts to build up within the ranks of their staff. Team Building events are a great way to encourage staff to work together. A dance class can not just provide your staff with a great time, but also encourage them to socialise together in a safe environment.
