There are plenty of places to have a wedding on the water, but so many of them are super upscale and want to cater the whole thing themselves. I am looking for a laid back location that will allow me to have a ceremony on their private beach, and then some sort of barbecue/backyard party type of thing on the grounds, with an option to go inside if it rains. I want to do all my own food and decorations. Any suggestions? i have exhausted the internet. Thanks! and happy wedding to al!
And the saga continues.... I am looking to do the same thing as all of you! Casual fun BBQ or clambake, ceremony & reception on the beach (with a house or something that has bathrooms and a rain shelter just in case.) dont want to spend a fortune. Also I dont want to be hurried out after 4 hours. Were any of you successful in your ventures? I am looking for mid to late July. If the place/price is right, I will consider any of the NJ,CT or LI shore. Hope to hear back!

You can find nice big houses that rent by the week. Not sure if that helps or not - but if I could find a nice place with a private beach and could hold enough people - that is how I want to do it. If anyone has any restaurant suggestions on the beach =PLEASE let me know.!!

We finally booked a place in Ct called Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven. Its on the LI Sound... Try googling it. There is also something on the Sound called Penfield Pavilion. ( in Fairfield) which is alittle cheaper. But they are both solid booked this summer, tho you can try calling to see if there are cancellations. If your weddings in 2009,& you go see it & like it, book it now! I only lucked out cuz some one else cancelled.
Cantering Caterer does a BBQ if you dont do it yourself. Ill let ya know how mine turns out ( Sept 13th) Good Luck!

We are considering our home to be used for a select number of weddings next spring thru the fall........we are located directly on long island sound in Westbrook, ct. With a large area next to the main hous e with a wonderful water view and beach. Also we have a 6 bed room house that is on the property that could be rented by the night or week which ever is needed. Wpuld this be of interest?

My fiance and I are interested in a casual beach wedding as well. Our problem is we don't really have a ton of money to spend. And we have a lot of people we are inviting.
