Before you settle on a dress from Davids, take the time to read all the messages throughout these boards regarding their quality and service. And let me give you a heads up on David's that not everyone knows. On their tags, they list the "retail" price and Davids price, as I am sure you noticed the large difference between the 2, making you think that you are getting a huge discount by shopping there. David's owns all of the designs they sell. So there is no retail price as no one else can sell these low quality dresses anywhere else. So it's just a scam to make you believe you are getting a discount when they are actually charging you the full price they want for the dress. Take a few moments and check out Alfred Angelo dresses, they are gorgeous, high quality and very affordable. Also check out DBS - discount bridal services, online. They helped me save over $300 on my dream dress. If you still insist on Davids, order one of their free catalogs, it list the measurements
I also thought that David's Bridal owned/made all of their dresses. However, I found the exact same dress I bought at David's in an advertisement for DaVinici. It was also listed at $499- the retail price that David's suggested. This confused me since I was told that this dress was unique only to David's bridal. Oh well- I love the dress. I had an extremely good experience at David's Bridal. At all times I had at least 2 salespeople helping me/ giving me advice. So maybe not all David's Bridals are bad...
I am glad to hear that someone had a good experience at David's. From everything I read on here and my own herding experience I wasn't too impressed. David's does alot of knockoffs of the more expensive brands of dresses using cheaper fabrics and threads. The woman at DBS that I ordered my dress from used to be employed at a David's as well the woman who is doing my alterations. They both told me the same thing about David's designs. And then I bought a Bridal Bargains book that gave the lowdown on how alot of the older fashion houses like Cassini and Galina were closed down and David's bought the name to use for themselves. Trust me there is no real retail price on David's gowns. What you see is what you get at their top price.
