Cost of a wedding?

My fiancee and I have decided to bear the burden of our wedding costs on our own. We want to have all the say in every part of the wedding without our parents butting in on everything. We have only managed to scrape together about $8,000 maybe $10,000 if we pull a couple extra strings. Is there anyway to have the wedding I've always dreamed of on this kind of a budget?? Any ideas or suggestions? Anything will help :) Thank you!

With research, you can do it. We offer Fold Out Cards that hold 7 photos which are a great inexpensive gift to the wedding party and also giving them photos. We also have photo cards that can be used as a thank you card, while supplying all your guests with a photo of you as well. www.cheetahscraps.com

Re: Cost of a wedding?
Certainly you can. One major thing is to limit the number of guests if possible. A second suggestion is to have your wedding on a Sunday or Friday night. Most vendors give considerable discounts for these times. Also consider a winter wedding rather than a summer. Again, most give discounts for that time of year. For your gown, there are several "used" stores you can go to, or there are also stores that sell sample gowns. They may need some minor repairs, but the cost is well worth it. While, I didn't do this, I did go to Payless Shoes and bought my shoes for a mere $9.00 rather than the $80.00 wanted by the bridal shop. Also consider a simple gown that might be worn for prom, etc. Consider an afternoon wedding with only some appetizers. Or consider what my friend did and do a picnic in the park afterwards. Go with less flowers, a single stem vs. a huge bouquet. Also, limit the number of attendants. This limits the dollars spent on flowers, gifts, etc. If you are creative, consider using silk flowers as displays or even your own flowers. Most places hav them 50% off most times and they look very nice, not to mention that they last longer. I am doing this for my 2 flower girls boquets. Consider having one of your friends be your chauffer in the "Limo". Rent a nice car for the weekend and use that rather than a limo service. Avoid expensive favors, no one really appreciates them any way and they are expensive. I am using Hershey kisses wrapped up in tulle as mine. Buy place cards at a discount store and print them yourself. Much less expensive than purchasing through a invitation company. Go with budget invitations. Use colored ink to add some pizazz which is only $6.50 extra for the whole lot of invitations. My total cost for 150 invites, reception and response cards was under $400.00. This included having the return addresses printed on the envelopes (an extra charge) and they are very nice. These are just a few of my suggestions as a bride going through that right now. My biggest suggestion is to shop around when you have time and jump on the deals that you think are good immediately.

Re: Cost of a wedding?
Have you checked out Ebay? We have saved so much money for my Daughter's wedding. Favors, her slip, veil, flower girl dress ect. everthing was brand new and buy now! Its all the little things that add up. My son got married in my back yard last year.He said "if I'm going to get married in a yard, its going to be where I grew up"and so he did! It was a beautiful Oct wedding. We had 65 guest. We rented tables, tent and dance floor.Eveything we did to the yard we got to keep. All of the flowers are coming back this year. We had a DJ, great food and a great time for 4,000.
