Invitations

I tried this on Wednesday but was unlucky in getting a response.

My question was is it ok for the invitations not to flow with the color scheme...My colors are ivory, wood violet, and plum. All the invitations I like have these colors but come in white only. Is it tacky if I go with the white inviations?

Also how do I word it so that it's clear that we want an adult only reception?

There's gotta be someone out there with an opinion.

Re: Invitations
I think that if you want to keep to your wedding colors, then you should find someone that can custom design your invitations. Let me know if you need a referral.

For the adults only part, put it on your RSVP card. I think that's the best way to do and have seen it done with a short sentence.

Hope this helps!

Re: Invitations
Kellyn,

We don't want to spend alot on invitations...And I assume custom will be expensive.

How would you word the "short-sentence" explaining no kids?

Re: Invitations
In that case, go with the white. Seriously, no one will notice! :)

I've seen it done on the RSVP card where it goes under the Number attending. It was just in italics and it said "Adults only". Another one I saw said,"This is an adult only event" in italics. Some people will be confused and will call anyways, but I think it's the most tactful way to go about it. Especially when you put it in italics but it's still visible.

Re: Invitations
Although the invitations should give the guests some sort of hint as to the theme, or color scheme of a wedding, no one is going to remember if the color is white, off white, beige or cream. I would say go with the white invitations because I honestly don't think anyone is going to get to your wedding and say "oh my gosh, her invitations were white and the colors are blue and silver!" Nope...not gonna happen in my opinion.

On the reception card have printed "An Adult Affair" on it and be sure that the inner envelope only indicates the adults in the family. People should be able to figure out that children are not invited.

Good luck and best wishes!

Re: Invitations
I wouldn't worry too much about the color of the invites matching your wedding colors. If you like the invites in white and the price is right I would go for it, I doubt anybody will notice or really care especially if you don't. I've seen invitations worded that give the details of where and when the wedding will be etc then I've seen written "adult reception to follow", I think thats pretty clear, hope it helps.
