I found this message board by mistake, not thinking, like most of you that any one would have this as a subject.
My husband and I were married without the permission of our parents. No one in town thought we'd ever make it past a year. Will that’s when I was 17 years old and he was 21. We've now been married 37 years. We have two grown children, 3 grandchildren. Now our kids tell us to behave in the backseat.
My Dad didn't walk me down the aisle because my mother wouldn't let him go to the wedding and my brother didn't even know we had gotten married. So, this time my Dad, who is now 86 and has been remarried since my Mom died wants to walk me down the aisle and my brother wants to give me away. My daughter will be my maid of honor (like I was for hers) and our son will be best man (like his dad was for his). The rest I'm winging. So if you have any ideas let me know.
My husband wants the full thing. The long dress, veil, flowers, reception all that we didn't get and couldn't afford for ourselves. The first time I spent my own money of $15.00 on a dress from Montgomery Wards and artificial flowers from the flower shop that someone had given them for their wedding.
Our life has been blessed with so much love between my husband and I and the love of our children that we finally want to tell everyone how wrong they all were to doubt us, specially when you really love someone. And see you can still be just as happy after 37 years like the first night if you only work at it and say you love each other every night. (Some nights are harder than others are).
We have 3 grandchildren and my husband really wants to play all our favorite love songs and dance all night long. Will until we can't stay awake anymore. Ha.
So what do you think about this one. Too far out there? So you young lovers and modern ladies any new and inventive ideas? Come on be creative. We're pretty modern so none of this family food recipe exchanging or cover dish stuff. I'm waiting to hear from you young minds with great ideas.
